It gives remote households the ability to stream, study, work and stay connected, while enabling regional businesses to run cloud tools, communications and essential online services that would otherwise be out of reach.

For some organisations, the best answer is not choosing one technology exclusively. A primary fixed wireless service paired with satellite backup can provide added resilience where connectivity is central to operations. Conversely, a satellite primary service with a mobile backup may suit a remote site. The right design depends on downtime tolerance, staff needs, application priorities and budget.

Questions to ask before you commit

Before selecting a plan, confirm what technologies are available at your exact address and whether installation constraints apply. Ask about typical busy-period performance, not just maximum speeds. Check whether data is unlimited, whether there are fair-use or network-management conditions, and what equipment is included.

Businesses should also ask how the service will support voice, VPNs, cloud backups, security cameras and remote access.
